On 2 December 2018, Papandayan Hotel, Bandung become the venue for Bekraf Developer Conference. At least three hundred participants are attending this event. AGI or known as Asosiasi Game Indonesia, and Dicoding become the main group discussion of this event. The event itself was sponsored by Bekraf or known as Badan Ekonomi Kreatif. The main topic for the event is about the development of the digital talent at Digital Creative Industry at Indonesia.
Peak Event at Bekraf Developer Conference
Batam becomes the first event to be held by Bekraf at 24 March 2018. The event later continues to Jayapura, Surabaya, Makassar, Balikpapan, and Yogyakarta before the peak event at Bandung. Last year, the same event happens at Trans Studio Mall Hotel with attendance up to more than a thousand. This, however, is because Bandung Developer Day and Bandung Developer Conference are being held together in one place. This year, only Bekraf Developer Conference is making the event due to limited space.
Separated into two discussions, AGI and Dicoding
After the opening ceremony, the event split into two divisions. AGI and Dicoding hold their own discussion event where both are discussing each of their own problems. Speakers and participants can discuss with each other of how the industry needs to improve. Most of the attendees at AGI comes from the low-mid level of Game Developer. Either they just start the company or those who are currently struggling in maintaining the finance.
On Dicoding side, they also face another problem. The knowledge and skills they provide are not enough for those who are hungry for knowledge. This results in developer and programmer at Indonesia become confused about what they should learn next. Some want to specialize in one aspect while some also want to become a generalist or a programmer that was basically want to learn all kinds of programming.
The conclusion of the event
At the end of the event, the speakers from both AGI and Dicoding concluded that there are a lot of things to do. There are at least five problems and they are:
- Lack of network or information for events or any training program.
- Most of the game developer company doesn't know how to maintain their finances.
- Programmers don't know where to go or what to learn after they got sufficient skills.
- The Standard of Procedure, legality, and the importance to make a company.
- How to maintain a game or program for a long-term.
Now we are looking forward to the next year. Many of us hope that the Indonesia Creative Industry continue to develop and expand its network.
